Pupil Premium

At Polruan Primary Academy we ensure that barriers to learning are identified for all pupils entitled to the Pupil Premium. We use experience and evidence to find solutions to breakdown these barriers to help pupils to make at least expected progress and to diminish differences between the attendance, well-being and learning outcomes for this group of pupils and their peers.

We adopt strategies that will support pupils in their learning and ensure that all learners have access to the resources, challenge and support that they need to make progress in their learning, develop and enjoy their education. We will ensure that these pupils are treated equally and as favourably as others and that the additional funding is used well to address the challenges they face. As a result of the additional funding, these children will make better progress and achieve higher standards that would have been likely without it.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between themselves and their peers. The pupil premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’).

We are grateful to those parents and carers who apply for Early Years Premium and Pupil Premium funding, as we are aware of the difference this funding makes to the best possible outcomes for all. If you think that your child is eligible for Pupil Premium funding, please contact the school to discuss it with us.
